The Prepared Environment

The prepared environment is comprised of the following elements: the prepared adult, the physical environment, and the community.

The prepared adult is trained by the Association Montessori International. They are childhood experts who, beyond meticulously preparing the physical environment for the children, will sensibly observe the children to then guide them by sparking their interest and curiosity. The most important attribute of a Montessori guide is the love and respect she holds for each child's total being.
The physical environment is prepared to exhibit warmth, beauty, and order. Montessori materials are carefully designed tools to stimulate the child into logical thought and discovery. The materials are displayed and accessible by the children such that they are free to choose their work independently.
The community is an essential element of the Montessori environment. It grows organically into a harmonious community of children of different ages within the same plane of development, learning to interact and learn from one another within a collaborative spirit, freed from competition.
